Boris Kurdi is a visual artist based in Paris, France whose work examines the conceptual, cultural and anthropological role of objects. After studying philosophy, Kurdi completed his Masters at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Primarily working through drawing and sculpture, he analyses how images, signs and objects carry meaning: shaped by human use, memory, history and social context.

Kurdi’s works play with the multilayered representations and misrepresentations of everyday objects including money, chess pieces, vases, letters, and lightbulbs. “Every object for me is a problem,” is an approach central to his practice; everything is a question to be examined. Kurdi's subjects come from a broad range of fields and influences, spanning art history, illustration, architecture, cartoons, literature, technological history, and personal memorabilia. His experience with graphic design is evident in how he combines precision with fragility, often pairing geometric structures with soft colors, and recurring symbols and signs. As with Kurdi’s interest in the philosophy of logic, his works suggest both an order and breakdown, altering and misreading familiar images over the course of time.

In 2021, Kurdi was awarded the Prix de La Fondation Pernod Ricard pour L’art Contemporain. His works have been acquired by the Le Centre Pompidou and La Fondation Pernod Ricard.
